Kunsthal Café
The Kunsthal Café –with its spacious terrace affording an oasis of quiet in the Museumpark – has become an integral part of the entrance area since the renovation. Besides its highly appreciated menu for visitors, the Kunsthal Café also functions independently for parties, receptions and other events, making use of the Kunsthal cloakroom and toilet facilities. In 2016 the Kunsthal Café – including the hire of the Auditorium and a tour of the exhibition – was frequently used for business events.
The Kunsthal Café can also adapt its interior and catering to a particular Kunsthal event. Since Rotterdam council finished the link between the Museumpark and Het Park (the so-called ‘Park Knot’), the Kunsthal has been working on a face-lift of the terrace. In the summer months the terrace of the Kunsthal Café was temporarily extended for the Latin Life Sundays. This pilot was set up to see whether we can enliven the Museumpark surrounding the Kunsthal and the Natural History Museum and has proved to be very successful. The council has promised to review the terrace permit for the coming year – also as a pilot – and issue it in the spring of 2017 at the latest.
